| The IH 476 and US 1 junction.
This is a “Stacked Diamond” or “Volleyball” Stylee.
Basically,a meeting of two freeways done on the cheap.
The shots are from east to west: IH 476 is crossing overhead.
|
|
|
|
| The on slip for the IH 476 joins in on the right;
and we enter the Media Bypass Freeway section of US 1.
No word yet on if it was “Liberal” or “New” Media we were bypassing.
Doesn’t matter. It’s all the same to me.
|
| The PA 252 junction on US 1.
This is close to the Media Cemetery.
You can find Betamax Videocassettes, Laserdiscs, 8 Track tapes, etc. |
|
| YARR! Nag Sine off the Starboard bow!
Just in time, too, cos I was snoozin’ |
| Glam Shot of the freeway. |
| Lucky for me I wasn’t following anyone.
Amazin’ how PennTRANS knows that I often find groups of ppl who dress alike and follow them around.
It’s a National Socialist Insecurity deal. If I told you, I’d have to KILL You.
That could r00in yr whole day.
|
| The end of the Media Bypass;
hard by the PA 352 elevated junction, with a level junction thrown in for fun.
All sorts of fun here, this is. Here’s PA's weaving warning sine.
I think this pretty well states the situation. |
| The PA 352 junction is a lo-rent cloverleaf,
with appropriately lo-rent signage. |
| Billy Riddle doesn’t have a web page and here’s why;
He's too busy shilling microbrews to Yuppies.
Note the vacancies for POS. TimBrown can get a job! |
| A railway overpass just north of the junction with WaWa Road.
WaWa was the official food stop on this trip
(They’ll deny it. Wouldn’t you?).
WaWA Road leads to their World Domination HQ. |
| IT’S THE LAW. That sure impresses me.
Guess that’s better than my reason to use seatbelts;
to increase my chances of survival in an accident.
But who needs common sense when THE LAW is happy to think for you? |
| Junction with US 322 east; heading to IH 95 and NJ.
US 322 joins US 1 for a bit here. |
|
| After r00inin’ yr liver up the road,
have a stop in here to see how bad the damage is.
Billy’s happy to oblige you with convenient office hours. |
| Here’s US 202 again. It's hard to avoid.
US 322 takes it’s leave of US 1 here. |
|
| US 1 in a Jersey Freeway Stylee. |
| Hmm. Just like NY. The WRONG color. |
| Pretty standard Urban Boulevard section on US 1 here. |
| Fancy-schmancy overpass for Longwood Gardens, near Kennett Square. |
| Off slip to Kennett Square, and beginning of the freeway
that extends south to the Maryland line. |
|
| Overpass for old US 1 and advance sine for PA 82 junction. |
| Junction with PA 82 at Kennett Square. |
| Haircut Palace on the US 1 freeway. |
| ROADS!!!!! AND EXITS! The US 1 Freeway near Oxford |
|
|
| Approach and junction with PA 472 at Oxford. |
|
|
| Part of the objective for this trip was County Clinchage.
And here we are just over the line in Lancaster County, PA. |
| Turned around and heading back south on PA 272.
Southeast, actually. |
| Amish hot rods are a common obstacle in this neck ’o’ the woods. |
| PA 272 turns to the south for real here.
You get fair warning that the opposing left doesn’t stop.
So if ya get mowed down by an Amish Hotrod,
Don’t come cryin’ to me! |
| On PA 272 and within spitting distance of MD! |
| Now we’re on MD 272 and another county gets clinched(by Me)! |
|
| Junction with MD 273. Another Chris Jordan Melting signal. |
| MD 273 Eastbound. |
| |
| And we turn back north onto MD 213. |
|
| As the snaps show, this was recently redone at the time we drove through.
So recently, that MDTRANS hadn’t taken down all the works sines yet. |
| No hard shoulder, but’cha got beefy MANLY guiderails!
None of that ch33p NYSDOT stoof here! |
| Just mere FEET south of PA, here.
The state line is at the surface change. |
| Sine fun at the junction of PA 472 and PA 841,
just over the state line. Note the Maryland 213 sine. |
| Hot END action!
The sine tells a story-PA 841 doesn’t end til the State Line. |
| Another FINE MD 213 directional courtesy of PennTRANS.
Pay no attention to that man behind the Curtain. |
| The REAL END! and BEGINNING of PA 841 at the state line. |
| Here's one I missed. A wooden STATE LINE sine. |
| They put up the post office close by;
Just THIS close to the state line. |
| The bustling metropolis of Lewisville on the Mason-Dixon Line. |
| And a long shot on PA 841 north closes this session in swing. |
|
