Thruway pictures....

Looking at the Thruway from the NY 396 overpass-just short of junction 22. Southbound(top snap) you can see the advance signs for the Berksire Spur; Northbound, you can see the slip roads for jn 22. The junctions are just 1 1/3 mile apart from overpass to overpass-which I believe is the shortest distance between junctions on the whole Thruway. You almost need weaving lanes :)

Two
shots of the gantry signage at the end of the Berkshire Spur of the
Thruway. This particular junction has no number; the numbers shown
here are for the Mainline thruway extending away from this point.
This is done at the major thruway junctions in this area, and
probably farther west, too. Note the half-size IH 87 shield on the SB sign.

The
Hudson River Bridge on the Berksire spur. This was redone in 2k1,
and you might notice that there is no sort of barrier in the central
reservation-Something you think they would've addressed while redoing
the bridge-Guess having opposing streams of traffic whizzng by at 65
MPH(actually 75 or 80)with no barrier to prevent collisions doesn't
worry the Thruway Authority.

Here's the Selkirk Toll booth(jn 22) this is a tight little junction-and of course, a small toll booth, too. You can see the NYST banner un-jüted by EZ-Pass signs here. The lower snap is amusing to me: There is only ONE open booth at most times-you'll note there is no folding EZ Pass sign facing you, so I doubt they reverse the center lane all that often, if at all. To the right you can see a little cinderblock building. I guess that has restrooms and all that. There's one at each plaza in my area-all the same architecture, and all have a chimmney w/the junction number on it. The size doesn't vary that much beteewn plazas.
