More Thruway pictures....

Approaching junction 21B, which comes between jns 21 and 21A. Notice the kerning on "Coxsackie". This happens on both the north and southbound signs. You're looking northbound.

A rock cut on the Thruway, somewhere between the junctions 21.

A good idea....A variable message sign advising you of gas prices at the Service area ahead. But it doesn't work and hasn't since they posted it sometime in 2k1. Even if it did, You couldn't see it, since the sun washes out the RED digits. You can't see the decimal points, which are lit. Why they didn't use yellow LEDs on this sign like they use on regular portable VMS's is beyond me. This is northbound near the New Baltimore Service area.

An advance sign for the New Baltimore Service area(northbound). All the service areas between Ramapo and New Baltimore have these just before you hit the area. These are backlit at night, and brands vary according to what's available at the area.

And here's an up close and personal look at a big green sign-the one mile advance northbound for the Berkshire Spur. Note how the mileage is bolted on-are km's hiding underneath? There are no labels on the sign itself, but the posts are identified by number and mileage: This one is mp 132.2/#1 which makes it the lefthand post. The slip base is used on all larger signs.
