Bear Mtn and Mid Hudson Bridges

The Bear Mountain is my personal favorite bridge of the 5 NYSBA bridges,
because it's so spiffy looking.
In the immediate area of the bridge is a small complex of museums
a zoo featuring some local animals, and a reptile house.
Originally, I'd planned to grab a couple of snaps and split,
I ended up spending an hour and a half in the bridge area.
These snaps replace two that were et by my server;
and Supplementary related snaps were thrown in.

And now, the Mid-Hudson Bridge.
This is accessible to pedestrians and bikers via the old approach road,
and you can walk right out onto the bridge,
as I did for about a hundred feet before I chickened out.
You can look down where the structural members come through on the bridge-
you can see the river-which is unsettling, to say the least,
if you happen to be like me and have a fear of heights.
I was ready to um... crawl off the bridge,
but not before I got a shot of the scaffolding that
had been erected for the painting of the west tower.
You'll also note that the east tower is shrouded.
NYSBA took the entire bridge down to bare metal and repainted it.
The last shot is the monument in the little park at the east end of the old approach road.
I thought it appropriate to add that,
even though it's not exactly road related.
