Some buzzy photos update this bit to 2k5.
Doug Kerr was the driver for the 2k5 run

Approaching the Newburg-Beacon Bridge from the west.

Eastbound on the bridge. The lane signals were replaced in 2k4.
These are LED signals, and sections have been failing.
As you can see here. There are also cameras all over the place.

Approaching the overhead truss portion of the bridge.

Now after I said in an earlier page that the right shoulder is never
used on the Newburg-Beacon Bridge,
here I am in the right shoulder.

Here's
the memorial plaque for the bridge posted on the superstructure.
Since the bridge is 3 lanes, trucks are disallowed from the left
lane.
This is the only six-lane section of IH 84 in NY, by the way.

Johnny
come-latelies tring to merge right.

I
was kinda wigged that the center lanes would be closed at 4pm-a peak
traffic period,
until I found out a Corsica with OHIO plates got
crunched.
Here are the flag d00ds kinda hanging out and having a
spiffy® time as everybody drives by,
irritated because of the
traffic coagulation.

Just past the above snap-with a working set of signals this time.

Approaching the toll plaza-which is being rebuilt:
The present lanes are being repaved,
And two lanes are being added.
The split avoids the lanes being redone.

Welcome
to the biggest toll plaza in the NYSBA system.
Lanes 3 and 4 are
usually reserved for EZ-Pass, and lane 1(far right) is always open.
The signs for lanes 2-7 are changeable; and you can see most of the
variations here.
The lanes were numbered in Feb 2002-backwards,
you'll note.

This 2k5 shot shows the lanes being rebuilt.
The new lanes are being added to the left of the canopy,
which isn’t being extended to cover them.
