The rest of the freeways in the Baltimore-Washington
Corridor that are NOT “95's”. This is only partly a Highway Extravaganza
page, since MD 10 and MD 32 weren’t included in the original. Those

These are made easier to find by highlighted green fields.
This is the shortest Mainline Interstate
in the system (17.62 miles), excluding Hawaii's H2 and H3, which have an excuse,
since they're on an ISLAND and have no place else to go. This designalstion
is prolly the second biggest joke in the Interstate System-The first being a
tie between the Shusterway(alleged IH 99) and the Big Dig, which Bud Shuster
had his hands in as well. At least this road is geographically correct
in the grid, and it connects to other interstates, albeit 3-digit ones. It's
a nice road and even has a 65 MPH limit-apparently throughout now, since I couldn't
find any evidence to the contrary in the SHA State Highway Location Reference.
Plus it's handy for the Howard County peeps to drop in off MD 32 and MD
100, so they can hang out and spend their megabux in Quainte Olde Annapolis.

US 29 is a dual carriageway route with
a couple of elevated junctions from the DC-MD line to where the freeway begins
at the junction of MD 32. This table shows the freeway section only.
David Grabiner provided additional information about junctions.
This table might seem backwards, as MD
32 is more east-west than north-south, however, MD SHA treats this as a north-south
road.The freeway section is posted east and west-a la Arkansas IH 430. My mileages
are based on Micro$haft Streets and Trips® and the MD State Highway Administation's
State Highway Location Reference; and are based on a zero point at IH
97; Don't ask me why those posted junction numbers are so far off.
This table also includes the two-lane section from JN 20 to the IH 70 JN which
is also part of
the National Highway System.

All sorts of mischief and tOmfRoMoHiOfoolery
on this road: It's windy as all the world and there is the extra moologgery
of roundabouts stuck on the ends of the slip roads in Howard County, just so
they could be trendy, I guess. And the lack of junction numbers at the MD 10
junction is weird, when every other elevated junction on this road has one.
Seems like they ran out of steam on the east end of the highway,
since they didn't even bother to put in overpasses.
